Powell wants better attacking quality from Castleford

Castleford coach Daryl Powell is happy with his team’s defensive efforts, but wants to see more potency in attack from his players.

The Tigers lost by a single point at Catalans Dragons on Saturday, and the coach now wants to use the week’s break in the schedule to sharpen up his team’s points scoring potential.

“We just need to tidy up our attacking game,” he told the Pontefract and Castleford Express.

“We had opportunities we should have taken and it was disappointing we couldn’t finish some of the chances we got. That’s been a real focus for us.

“Obviously we’ve got new players in the team and we haven’t really hit the straps yet. We’re constantly working on getting better.

“There’s some good signs from us, but it is very frustrating at the moment.

“We haven’t been able to pick up the points we should have. I think we should be sat with four points on the league ladder at the moment and we’ve got none.

“It’s going to require a real tough mentality from us over the next couple of weeks and then a big effort against St Helens.”
