Powell says Cas can push for top eight

Castleford’s new coach Daryl Powell feels that he can help them fight their way into Super League‘s top eight.

The Tigers suffered seven straight defeats under former manager Ian Millward, but have got back into winning ways with a victory over Hull KR at the weekend.

He is looking at the positives rather than the negatives after comparing themselves to the position Wakefield Wildcats were in last season.

Powell, 47, said: “You look at what Wakefield achieved last year, and I’m not saying anybody can win seven games on the spin, but confidence is an unbelievable thing.

“If a team is playing with confidence, if they have belief in each other and know what they’re doing, then there’s no reason why special things can’t be achieved. The talent is all there.

“You need your special players to come up with special things at times, and Castleford have certainly got those players right across the park.”
