Powell ready for tough conditions

Castleford Tigers (2/7 – Match Betting) head coach Daryl Powell believes his side will have to cope with tricky conditions when they make the trip to Salford Red Devils (11/4) on Friday night.

The Tigers are clear favourites to pick up the win which would cement their position at the top of the league and secure their first ever League Leaders’ Shield, as well as ensuring a home semi-final for the end-of-season play-offs.

The Tigers remain 11/8 favourites to pick up their first Grand Final win in October despite their defeat at home to St Helens last week, their first home loss of the season.

Powell believes the Tigers will bounce back from that loss and has warned his side to prepare for tough conditions due to all the rain that has been around this week, conditions which are expected to mirror their previous clash there in March.

Powell said: “We need to do well this week in what looks like being tough conditions by the look of things.

“This is what happens at this time of year, in summer in England, it rains so we just have to get on with it.

“We didn’t handle it so well at Salford earlier in the year so we learned some lessons. It looks like it’s going to be raining again and we’ve certainly got used to that in training this week.”
