Powell: Players “superb” from start to finish

Castleford boss Daryl Powell called his players “superb” after they moved back to the top of the Super League with a crushing 54-4 victory over Wigan on Saturday.

Greg Minikin weighed in with a couple of tries, while scrum-half Luke Gale contributed 20 points with eight goals and a try as the Tigers ran riot.

“I didn’t expect us to get away from Wigan like that – we started the game so positively and defensively we were on the money, so I’m obviously delighted with the way the players went about their work,” said Powell.

“I thought they were superb from start to finish. It was tough for them losing a couple of blokes and, when they were down to 12, we hit them pretty hard and executed pretty well.

“Mike McMeeken was unbelievable tonight, that was the best I’ve seen him play for us. I think he’s shown a statement of intent for next weekend.”

  1. just shows how good Hull FCs performance was ,playing with one man short for most of the game,to beat CAS also shows that Gale was not as badly injured as he showed or he would not have played against Wigan .That said it was a great show by Cas who incidentally are a lot of Hull fans second favourite team

  2. After last nights miss match, it as to be WONDERFUL CLASSY CAS. I never expected that, but so pleased and proud of this team, been a Cas fan since 1960.
