Powell embarrassed by poor performance

Castleford coach Daryl Powell said things have to change with his team after they were thrashed by Hull KR 58-16.

Powell was scathing post-game about his side’s performance.

“It was just ridiculous,” he said.

“It’s as bad as our defeat at Warrington. Defeats like this can happen, but it’s worrying that we’ve had two in a season.

“I don’t want to take anything from Hull KR, they were great from the start. They deserved to beat us, as they did, in every department today.

“It’s hugely disappointing. Clearly it was unacceptable from us in terms of our approach and things have to change pretty quickly.

“That was just embarrassing really. It’s not what we stand for, the way we performed today.”
