Halifax winger Gareth Potts and Hunslet Hawks winger Gavin Duffy are the Kingstone Press Players of the Week.

Potts played a key role, particularly in defence, in Halifax’s victory at North Wales Crusaders, while Duffy scored three tries before half-time as Hunslet got the better of Hemel Stags.

Every week each coach in both Kingstone Press Championship competitions is contacted to help produce the awards.

Kingstone Press Championship Player of the Week – Gareth Potts (Halifax)

Halifax winger Gareth Potts made several decisive contributions to his side’s important 20-17 win at North Wales Crusaders.

The former Batley player was prominent in both attack and defence as Halifax moved up to second in the Kingstone Press Championship table.

Coach Karl Harrison said: “Gareth had an outstanding game on the right wing.

“He saved three tries for us with his defence, including one that he had no right to, and also kept the ball in play by taking a penalty on the full.

“Then he came up with the match-winning try with just four minutes left to cap an excellent performance.”

Kingstone Press Championship One Player of the Week – Gavin Duffy (Hunslet Hawks)

Hunslet Hawks winger Gavin Duffy scored a first-half hat-trick to help his side secure a 34-16 win against Hemel Stags.

Duffy, who is on loan from Keighley Cougars, has repaid the faith shown in him by Hawks coach Barry Eaton.

Eaton said: “I know what Gavin can offer from my time at Keighley. He was just what we needed, and he’s settled in very well.

“He’s playing particularly well and has already scored a few tries, but against Hemel he was outstanding. A couple of his tries were brilliant finishes, and he’s doing exactly what we need from him.”
