More on John Kear

Joining the podcast, Kear is fresh from a trip to Albi as his Dragons side returned to action in more than three years as they faced France in a mid-season international. Despite their 34-10 defeat, Kear was pleased by his side’s performance in hot conditions and was delighted to see international rugby league return.

He confirmed that his side will have another trial game the week before the World Cup kicks-off on October 15 as England face Samoa.

Wales face Cook Islands, Papua New Guinea and Tonga in a ‘group of death’ within Men’s Group D for the campaign.

Meanwhile, the 67-year-old will start his new role as head coach of Widnes from July 1. He will look to be turning their season around, having just claimed just five wins from 15 in the Championship.
