Papua New Guinea have been handed a boost ahead of the World Cup with the news that they have had a bid to enter a team in the Queensland Cup in Australia accepted.

It is hoped that the team will see more Papua New Guinea players picked up by NRL and Super League clubs.

Two of the World Cup squad were last week signed by Super League side Hull KR.

According to reports Down Under, in 2014, they’ll play their home games in Kalabond Oval, in Kokopo, East New Britain Province, until the Loyd Robson Oval in Port Moresby has completed its upgrades for the 2015 Pacific Games.

The Queensland Cup is now known as the Intrust Super Cup.
