Peter Green named Championship Player of the Week

Correspondent

Sheffield Eagles second row Peter Green has been named Premier Sports Player of the Week following his performance in Sheffield’s 52-20 Kingstone Press Championship win at Swinton Lions.

Green also retained his selection in the Team of the Week, and has moved up to second place in the table for the competition’s end of season Player of the Year award.

Every week each coach in the Championship (and Championship One once it begins) will be consulted to help choose both a Premier Sports Team of the Week and Player of the Week.

A top five will then be formed for the individual award, with the points awarded counting towards the Championship’s Player of the Year accolade.

The weekly awards will also see a team performance and try of the round selected, while inclusion in the Premier Sports Team of the Week will count towards the end of season selections for the two competitions.

Championship Player of the Year

Batley Bulldogs full-back Miles Greenwood is now in pole position for the Kingstone Press Championship Player of the Year award after picking up four points for his performance in the win over York.

Player of the Week Peter Green is in second place after earning points for a second time this season.

Full-backs Gregg McNally at Leigh, and Ryan Fieldhouse at Halifax, also picked up points for their displays, despite missing out on the Team of the Week to Greenwood.
