Fiji international Tyrone Phillips has left Penrith with immediate effect.

The 25-year-old was charged with a mid-range drink-driving offence on Sunday evening following the Canterbury Cup outfit’s win at Panthers Stadium.

Phillips met with the Panthers on Monday and Penrith general manager, Phil Gould, confirmed Phillips’ exit on Nine’s 100% Footy programme.

“Tyrone Phillips made the decision to resign from the Panthers effective immediately,” Gould said.

“It’s a been a difficult time of late and the latest thing on the weekend wasn’t good enough.”

Phillips joined the Panthers in 2018 and made nine appearances following a three-year spell at the Panthers.
