Paul Wood has come out of retirement to join Whitehaven and will play for free.

The 36-year-old hasn’t played professional rugby league since playing for Featherstone Rovers in the Championship in 2015.

Wood made 237 appearances in a 15-year stint at Warrington Wolves, scoring 37 tries. He is a two-time Challenge Cup winner.

The veteran prop will take no money from playing for Haven and is in contention to make his debut for Sunday’s clash with Bradford Bulls.
