Patton eager for Wembley return

Declan Patton is targeting a return trip to Wembley in August, but he hopes this time it will be as part of the Warrington team.

Patton was not in the squad that lost 12-10 to Hull in the 2016 Challenge Cup final and he’s hoping to take a step nearer making his dream become a reality when the Wolves face Widnes in the last eight on Sunday.

“It’s good to play against them because a derby game is always good – it gets everyone up for it straight away,” said Patton.

“Just to be at home and we know the pitch more, but it’s going to be a tough game – it always is against Widnes.

“All the boys are ready to go for it, especially with it being the Challenge Cup. It’s got a bit of a special feel if we get to Wembley again and hopefully win it.

“I was part of it before the game last year. It was amazing, a really good experience, and I think to lose it the way we did in the second half was awful.

“You could see how much it meant to the lads, so hopefully it’ll be the same as the Grand Final – we’ve tasted it now and we want to go and get it so hopefully that’s what we can do.”
