Paterson says Leigh can avoid the drop

Cory Paterson believes Leigh can avoid relegation despite winning just one of their last ten Super League games.

The Centurions ended an eight-game losing run with victory at Hull last Friday, but followed up with a defeat at home to Castleford on Monday to stay rooted in the bottom four.

Leigh travel to third-placed Leeds on Friday in desperate need of a win to stay in touch with the teams above them in the table.

“We’re going to keep fighting to the end – we still believe that if we have a bit of luck, get a few blokes back and keep working hard, the results will take care of themselves,” he said.

“We’ll definitely keep fighting and keep working hard for each other and the town. As long as we do that, we’ll have no regrets.

“Leeds are a champion side and they’re having a good year. They’re especially formidable at Headingley, we have definitely got our work cut out for us on Friday.”
