Parramatta winger Maika Sivo has been charged with indecent assault following an incident at a hotel in his native Fiji.

The 26-year-old, who returned home for Christmas and New Year to spend time with his family, is alleged to have harassed a female member of staff at the Nadi Hotel.

The Fijian international has been granted bail but will not be able to return to Australia until after his next court hearing on January 7.

An Eels statement read: “Maika and the club are respectful of Fijian law and we continue to offer our full cooperation with local law enforcement authorities.

“The Eels will continue to liaise with the NRL Integrity Unit and will provide a further update to stakeholders as the situation progresses.”

Sivo ended his debut season top of the try-scoring charts with 22 scores, three clear of nearest rival Latrell Mitchell. He also helped Parramatta finish fifth, their highest position on the league ladder since 2017.
