Brisbane’s Corey Parker will miss the match with North Queensland on Friday after suffering a nasty gash to his leg during yesterday’s Origin clash.

Parker had surgery on the injury which left his shinbone visible and forced him to leave the field during the first half.

“Doctors have cleaned out the gash on Parker’s leg, where surgery will be performed on him,” said Queensland doctor Roy Saunders told Brisbane’s official website.

“He will spend a few weeks on the sidelines. There is some concern about infection.”

Parker later had surgery to close the wound.

The Broncos will also be without Origin trio Justin Hodges, Petero Civoniceva and injured skipper Sam Thaiday.

Meanwhile, North Queensland’s Brent Tate is also a doubt for the match in Townsville with ankle and knee problems.
