Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have signed Papua New Guinea World Cup back Jessie Joe Parker for 2011.

The 24-year-old stand-off or centre three quarter has been playing for neighbours Featherstone Rovers in the Co-operative Championship and he has agreed a two year contract for the Wildcats, starting next year.

Wildcats Head Coach John Kear said: “Jessie Joe has been outstanding for Featherstone and we believe that he will be a big asset for us in the engage Super League next year.

“He played in the 2008 World Cup in Australia as well as the 2009 Pacific Cup for the Kumuls so he is an experienced international.

“We are always interested in the best talent that becomes available and we’re delighted that Jessie has agreed to join us.

“Jessie Joe has proved to be a consistent try scorer for Rovers and we want him to transfer that talent to Super League for the Wildcats.”

Before joining Featherstone Jessie Joe had been playing for Queensland Cup side Northern Pride, the club he had joined after moving from Papua’s domestic competitions.
