Pair re-sign with Whitehaven

Whitehaven have re-signed prop Paul Jackson and scrum-half Cain Southernwood for 2014.

Jackson, 35, moved to Cumbria ahead of last season, having spent all of his career in Super League with Huddersfield, Wakefield and Castleford, while Southernwood had spells at Wakefield and Bradford in his youth.

The 21-year-old scored eight tries in 27 appearances for Whitehaven in his first season.

Coach Dave Woods said: “These are two players who were essential to our success last season and they will combine ideally with the new players we have added to the squad. I am looking for big things next season and these two are part of that vision.”
