Oxford‘s recruitment drive for the new season has continued with the signing of prop Tom Davies.

Davies, 24, has been playing for Coventry Bears, who were due to jump up to the Championships in 2014 but the move never happened, in the National Conference League

He said: “I am excited about getting to play Rugby League in my home county and for it to be in Championship One is brilliant and something I thought would never happen.

“My objective is to work hard to get myself into regards contention for the match day squad and make my debut for Oxford in Championship One.”

Davies has played for Farnley Falcons, Undercliffe Wildboars and Bradford University, along with representative honours with England Students.

Oxford coach Tony Benson said: “He’s been at Coventry and he’s a strong and aggressive front rower.

“He’s got a good engine and will take the ball up all day. He came to the trials last year and I gave him some feedback, which he’s adhered to and has come back as a true contender for a spot now.”
