Oxford pride at performance in Canada

Oxford chief executive Adrian Smith says the team did themselves proud on their visit to face Toronto Wolfpack in Canada over the weekend.

The Wolfpack won 62-12 in front of over 6,000 people to maintain their 100 percent record at the top of League 1, but Smith thinks the Blues acquitted themselves well.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the lads and the staff after this inspiring display – to be honest it felt like a ‘David and Goliath’ scenario going into the match,” said Smith.

“The physical intent shown by the Wolfpack at the Salford game and now in Toronto could have been a psychological barrier our young lads had to cope with.

“But we did cope with it – and in my eyes it was outstanding, all things considered.

“It would be great if a few more turn up at Tilsley Park, Abingdon, this coming Sunday to welcome the boys home when we play Hunslet.”
