The half-back partnership of Tommy Connick and Jimmy Rowland will stay intact at Oxford RL for 2014, after both players signed new contracts with the club.

Connick, 23, played a vital role in Oxford‘s charge towards the playoffs making 16 appearances while Rowland, 19, joined the club at the back end of the season from Warrington.

The pair soon formed a lethal partnership to help secure Oxford‘s place in the play-offs in their debut season in the league. Their partnership will be just as important when the new season comes around.

On securing Rowland’s signature for 2014 Oxford head coach Tony Benson said, “He’s only 19, but he is improving with every game. He was really good in his last game with us and I am looking forward to seeing him develop.”

Rowland was excited to be re-signing and said, “I am pretty happy with how everything went, I was really impressed with the set up and really enjoyed my short time at the club and I am looking forward to having a full season here.

“We did really well to get into the playoffs last year, and our aim will be to finish higher this year in what will be a tough league this year, we are capable of beating anyone on our day but need to be more consistent.”

On Connick’s signing, Tony Benson said, “Tommy came on massively towards the end of last season and was a really important member of the team and I am looking forward to seeing how he continues his form into next season.”
