Ottawa Aces have signed back-rower Sam Wilde from Widnes ahead of the 2021 season.

The 24-year-old made 66 appearances for Widnes after joining the club from Warrington.

Wilde said: “I am extremely happy to be signing for the Ottawa Aces, and to be a part of the club from day one.

“It is a very exciting opportunity to be a part of something new, and to help build the club and the game of rugby league in a new city.

“I am really looking forward to meeting the rest of the squad and getting started, and then getting over to Ottawa to meet all of the fans over there as well.”

Ottawa coach Laurent Frayssinous said: “It is an incredible coup to have Sam Wilde on board with us next season.

“I have followed Sam for a long time, and he is performing well year in and year out.

“He is a typical modern edge back-row who can break the line, is skilful, carries the ball strong when needed, and first and foremost is solid defensively. I am so excited to work with him.”
