Orr signs for Harlequins

Harlequins have completed the signing of Wigan stand off Danny Orr on a three year deal.

The former Castleford player becomes the fourth Brit to sign for Quins since the end of the season, following Chris Melling (Wigan), Jonathon Grayshon (Huddersfield) and David Tootill (Leeds) to The Stoop.

He will compete for the number 6 shirt with recent signing Scott Hill, the Australia cap having signed for the Quins earlier on this year, alongside Julien Rinaldi and Sione Faumuina.

Orr joined Wigan in 2004 but has cut short on his four year deal there to move to the capital.

For Orr, like so many others who have made the trip south, the move brings about a host of new challenges:

'It's an exciting club with good people involved at all levels and it will be a fresh start for me and my family.'

I've been down to Twickenham and spoken at length with Brian, Tony and others at the club, and a lot of thought has gone into making this decision.'

Quins have already made me feel really welcome and I have always wanted to play at a club where I know I am a valued team member.'

I like what I have seen and am really excited about getting down to business when the squad comes together in a few weeks.'

Head Coach Brian McDermott commented: 'Danny is a great player to have join us. He showed the type of form towards the end of last year which made him one of the most dangerous players in Super League."

He will compliment nicely what we have already in our ranks.'
