Half-back Danny Orr will return to home town club Castleford next season, seven years after originally leaving the club.

Orr, 32, has signed a one-year deal at The Jungle having spent four seasons in London with Harlequins after first leaving Castleford for Wigan in 2003.

Castleford coach Terry Matterson said: “I’m very pleased to have signed Danny for next year, he brings a lot of experience and he’s a very smart player at both half back and hooker.

“We felt that it was important to bring someone in who could help move the team around and Danny fits the bill. He will both compliment and take some pressure off Rangi (Chase).”

Orr made 191 appearances for the Tigers before leaving for Wigan, scoring 71 tries, 297 goals and four drop goals, and was also named in the Super League Dream Team in 2002.

The former Kippax amateur said: “I’m really pleased to have been given this chance to return to the Tigers, as everyone knows I’m a Cas lad and proud to be and I enjoyed my time with the club.

“I did have other opportunities but I have always wanted to return to Cas and as soon as I knew that there was an opportunity, my mind was made up.”

The Tigers academy graduate will also take on a coaching role within their Junior Development Programme.
