Castleford have confirmed that youngster Jacques O’Neill has committed his future to the club, and signed a two-and-a-half year professional contract.

The contract begins in September, and the 16-year-old England Youth international, who is a product of Cumbrian amateur rugby league club Askam, will now step up into the Cas Under-19s.

“I’m so excited to sign for Cas. I can’t wait to move down here and get stuck into training full time,” he said.

“I’ve been made to feel at home here at Cas from day one. My heart is here with the Tigers and I just can’t wait to start the next chapter of my career.”

Pete Riding, Tigers’ head of youth, is thrilled to have Jacques at the club, especially as he was attracting interest from other Super League clubs.

“I’m delighted Jacques has decided to stay with us here at Cas,” he said.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing him develop. He has a lot of hard work ahead of him now to fulfill his potential.”
