One in, one out at Sheffield

Sheffield have signed forward Joslin Landu for the 2019 season but have announced the departure of Ben Pointer.

Landu arrives at the Eagles on a one-year deal after impressive spells at Halifax Elite Rugby Academy and Wakefield Trinity.

On signing Landu, Sheffield coach Mark Aston said: “Joslin is an eager individual who we see a lot of potential in.

“He is in a good system with Wakefield and with them running a reserve outfit, we will work alongside them if or when he isn’t selected for our games to ensure he gets the right amount of game time to continue his development.

“He’s tough, keen as mustard and listens to what we are trying to teach him and instil in him and as coaches, that’s what we want and is all we can ask for.”

Meanwhile, Pointer has left the club by mutual consent.

He only joined the Eagles from Newcastle Thunder ahead of the 2019 season but requested a release from his contract due to personal reasons.
