One Direction star Louis Tomlinson has today become the new owner of Doncaster RLFC, as part of a wider Club Doncaster takeover.

An official statement on the club website said: The owners of Doncaster RLFC, Terry Bramall, Dick Watson and David Blunt are pleased to announce that contracts have now been exchanged with a completion date set for the 18th July 2014 for John Ryan and Louis Tomlinson to assume ownership of Doncaster Rovers, Doncaster RLFC and the Foundation.

Following the successful negotiations, Chief Executive, Gavin Baldwin, said: “We are pleased to announce that former Doncaster Rovers owner John Ryan and One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson have signed heads of terms to become the new owners of Doncaster Rovers, Doncaster RLFC and the Foundation.

“This takeover is a positive step for all involved with Club Doncaster and everyone involved is excited about the next chapter of the organisation.”

Carl Hall, General Manager for Doncaster RLFC added “It is important to stress that this deal does not have any negative implications for the Dons.  Paul Cooke has already been given a 1 year extension to his current deal and based on the progress the team has made this year, we’re preparing to provide him with the biggest budget the Dons have ever had”

“At this stage I’d like to thank Terry Bramall, Dick Watson and David Blunt for their contribution to Doncaster RLFC during the past few months.  This is an exciting time for both the Dons and Doncaster Rovers as part of Club Doncaster.”
