O’Loughlin season could be over

Wigan captain Sean O’Loughlin could miss the rest of the domestic season, but could be available for the Grand Final, should the Warriors make it.

O’Loughlin, 30, saw a specialist in London on Monday which confirmed a tear in his achilles, forcing him to wear a protective boot.

Wane told the Warriors’ official website: “It is a blow for us, he is not 100% ruled out of every game, if we were lucky to make it to the Grand Final there is a chance for him. He has been great for us this year and we will miss him. We will have to deal with it, play without him and get on with it.”

The hometown loose forward helped Wigan to their 19th Challenge Cup success last month at Wembley.

O’Loughlin is likely to be in the plans of England coach Steve McNamara for the World Cup, which begins on October 26.

England recently announced a warm-up game against Italy, to take place at the Salford City Stadium on October 19.
