Widnes hot prospect, Olly Ashall-Bott, has signed an extension with the Vikings seeing him stay with the club until 2020.

The Vikings have struggled on the field in 2018 and are staring down the barrel of relegation from Super League.

With the drop all but confirmed – the announcement of Ashall-Bott’s new contract will at least act as something positive for the Vikings faithful.

It also displays the work Widnes are doing in preparing for a potential future in the championship.

Ashall-Bott, 20, on the deal said:

“It was a no-brainer”

“I’ve had a couple of other clubs get in touch, but as soon as the offer was on the table from Widnes, I was always going to sign.”

“I want there to be only one club in my life”

This level of loyalty from an exciting prospect can only be good news for the Vikings and will act as a statement.

With Super league survival still technically possible – Widnes will look to finish the Qualifiers strong.

They face 2017 champions Leeds Rhinos at home on Sunday, kick off at 15:00.
