Oliver Gildart ruled out for remainder of GB tour

Wigan centre Oliver Gildart will not feature again for Great Britain on their tour Down Under after suffering a disclosed shoulder.

Gildart, 23, left the field in the second half of the 14-6 defeat to Tonga on Saturday, and scans revealed the extent of the damage.

There are no plans to call-up a replacement, with Hull’s Jake Connor expected to get the nod to replace Gildart for next week’s test against New Zealand.

Meanwhile, St Helens prop Luke Thompson, who went off after just 12 minutes against Tonga with a rib injury, remains with the squad.

He is being treated by the GB medical team and could yet return with three tests – two against the Kiwis and one against Papua New Guinea – to play.

Coach Wayne Bennett said after the game that he didn’t think either would play again on the tour.
