Oldham win will stand despite abandonment

The RFL have reached the decision that the result of the recent South Wales v Oldham match, which was abandoned after 72 minutes, will stand.

The Roughyeds were leading 18-4 with eight minutes remaining, but due to sweeping wind, and also the state of the muddy and frozen pitch, the game was stopped.

Some of the players came down with hypothermia like symptoms, and Scorpions head coach Mike Grady paid tribute to their efforts.

“I was a little disappointed we couldn’t push for a bonus point,” said Grady.

“But big credit to both sides as those conditions were horrendous.”
