Oldham sign Briscoe

Oldham have confirmed that back rower Craig Briscoe has signed for them for the 2016 season.

The former Leigh and Barrow player had an offer from the Raiders to consider, but offered to sign for the Roughyeds instead.

“The prospect of returning to the Championship appealed to me, but apart from that Oldham have clearly got things going for them,” said Briscoe.

“It was tough to leave my mates at Barrow, but after a lot of thought I opted for a new start with a club that’s going up a division.”

Oldham coach Scott Naylor is delighted to be adding a player he really rates to his ranks for next season.

“I’ve had one eye on Craig for the past couple of seasons,” he said.

“He’s predominately a back-row forward so we are going to be very strong in that department. He’ll also give us more depth in the squad.

“At 22 he’s still young for a forward and of the right age to work with. I’m looking forward to working with him in pre-season and watching him develop as a player.”
