Oldham chairman Chris Hamilton to undergo heart surgery

Oldham chairman Chris Hamilton will go in hospital for major heart surgery next week and will be out of action for a while.

Hamilton was due to go into hospital last week, but his admission was delayed a little.

But he remains up-beat and wants seventh-placed Roughyeds to continue to climb the League 1 table while he is on the road to recovery.

He said: “It’s impossible to put a time scale on it, but recovery can take quite a long time.

“It’s a worrying time for me, obviously, but it’s something that needs doing as soon as possible.

“It will be business as usual at the club. I hope the lads can continue their good form while I’m away and I’m sure they will.”
