Oldham 2014 squad numbers

Oldham coach Scott Naylor has revealed his squad numbers ahead of their Championship One campaign that starts next month.

Former Waterhead and Salford full-back Tom Whitehead has been handed the coveted number one jersey, vacated by Richard Lepori, who has moved to Australia.

Brett Robinson has been handed number seven as Neil Roden‘s respectively, while new signing Ben Wood has three.

Coach Scott Naylor, meanwhile, has warned that now isn’t the time for anyone to be filling players’ heads with talk of play-offs and promotion.

He’s more interested in the here and now than either the past or the future.

“The goal of every team in the division will be to compete in the play-offs,” he said.

“Last year we were the best team going into them, but we didn’t get the rewards we deserved for a season’s work.

“That’s all I’m going to say on that subject. I find it weird to be asked about such things when the season hasn’t even started yet.

“There’s a lot of rugby to come before then; ups and downs no doubt; and things we can’t envisage or predict.

“My focus right now is on hitting the ground running and getting the season off to a good start.”
