Offerdahl: Second is not enough

London finished second last year during the Championship regular season and Broncos prop Mark Offerdahl has admitted that is not good enough this time round.

London were behind Leigh in the Championship table, but peformed well in the Middle 8s and almost reached the Million Pound Game.

But Offerdahl believes the Broncos can do better.

“We finished second last year and we’re looking to go one better this year,” he said.

“The collective goal of the clubs is to get promoted back to Super League.

“We just need to make sure that we block off each section off and set new targets every four or five weeks just to keep it realistic and keep it fresh in the head.”

Offerdahl said he is pleased with how pre-season is going so far. London have brought in a number of faces, including Junior Roqica, Matt Gee and Jarrod Sammut.

“We haven’t had any major injuries and we’re all probably a lot fitter than we thought we’d be at this stage,” he said.

“We had a good core group of boys last year who all got along with each other and we’re all good mates.

“The new boys that have come in have just slotted in pretty easily.

“Of course you miss a player like Jamie Soward but I think we have got the stock to replace him easy enough,” he said.

“We have brought in Jarrod Sammut who has also played a bit of NRL and he is a good little player.

“We have also got Will Barthau and Api Pewhairangi, who was one of the best halves last year so we have got people vying for positions which is good.”
