Off-contract France star Arthur Mourgue has penned a new two-year contract extension with Catalans Dragons.

The new deal secures his future at the Gilbert Brutus Stadium until the end of the 2025 season, having been off-contract at the end of the current season.

Mourgue, 24, joined the club from Avignon in 2016, first representing the Under 19s before signing his first full-time contract in 2017.

He made his Super League debut the year after against Warrington.

The full-back enjoyed his breakthrough season in 2021, making 23 appearances for the club as well as an appearance from the bench during the Grand Final against St Helens at Old Trafford, falling to a 12-10 defeat.

Mourgue represented France at the World Cup in England last season, featuring in all three of the side’s group stage fixtures against England, Greece and Samoa.

He also represented France at the 2019 World Cup 9s Down Under, and was named in the halves against England earlier this year in the mid-season international at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

To date, he has scored 156 points and 13 tries in 59 appearances for the Dragons since his debut in 2018.

Head coach Steve McNamara added: “We are really pleased Arthur has committed his immediate future to the Dragons.

“His individual talents and attributes are plain to see.

“He is now developing his all-round game and his influence on our team as a whole is improving with every step.

“We look forward to seeing Arthur continue and progress his career with us.”
