Dual-registered duo John Davies and Jordan Thompson could make their York debuts in Wednesday’s Northern Rail Cup clash.

The Castleford Tigers pair are both on the verge of breaking into Terry Matterson’s first team squad and will pick up valuable experience with the Knights.

York assistant coach Chris Thorman said: “A win over London will see us through to the quarter-finals (of the Northern Rail Cup), which is fantastic. We want to go as far as we can in the competition.”

Skolars, who are still searching for their first competitive victory of 2010, are challenged with overturning the 36-8 defeat they suffered against York in their Co-operative Championship One opener in February.

James Massara’s side lost 42-16 in their latest fixture, a third round Carnegie Challenge Cup tie against Limoux, but Massara remains optimistic.

He said: “We’ve worked hard and a lot of stuff is starting to come right.

“I’m disappointed as the mistakes we made (against Limoux) are ones we understand. We have to keep believing as we know we can compete.”
