Snow has yet again hit the rugby league fixture programme, with a number of Northern Rail Cup games called off.

The Northern Rail Cup, which was hit by seven postponements on its opening weekend, has again been affected by the weather.

Dewsbury’s clash with Leigh has been postponed due to heavy snow in Yorkshire, while up in Cumbria, Barrow’s game against Keighley has fallen foul of the snowy conditions.

Halifax’s game against Hunslet at The Shay has also been confirmed as called off, as has Rochdale’s game against Featherstone and Gateshead’s clash with Batley.

Swinton, who covered their pitch ahead of the weekend, are hopeful that their clash with holders Widnes will go ahead, while the Cumbrian derby between Workington and Whitehaven has been confirmed as on after a pitch inspection this morning.

South Wales‘ Scorpions first ever game, scheduled to be against Wigan, has also been called off.

A statement said: “Today’s South Wales Scorpions game against Wigan Warriors has had to be cancelled. Due to treacherous conditions in the north of England, the Wigan team have reported that they have been unable to travel. All tickets that have been pre-ordered will be refunded ASAP.”
