Salford will be fielding their strongest possible team against Leigh on Friday night, in what is their first pre-season friendly.

Also as a gesture of good will, all proceeds from the game will go to the Championship club, as confirmed by big spending Red Devils owner Marwan Koukash on Twitter earlier.

Koukash (@drmarwanK) tweeted: “We will have the best available team on Friday and all proceeds to go to Leigh.”

With 14 new signings at the club head coach Brian Noble is pleased with the way the squad has gelled so far.

“The competition is 36 games, so you need a good mix of experience and youth,” explained Noble.

“We have players from all over, and each player brings a specific skill set to the team, not only on the field, but also off the field.

“A lot of people say we have an old squad, but the opposite is true – the average age is a lot lower than you might think.

“We have tremendous leaders in the team, and also some very exciting new, young players.”
