Brian Noble is set to appoint Stuart Donlan as his assistant coach at Salford, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Donlan, 34, was number two at Castleford until he and Ian Millward departed the Wish Communications Stadium last month.

The former Halifax and Leigh back will replace Sean Long, who has left Salford to join Wigan’s coaching staff.

Noble played alongside Donlan’s father Steve for Bradford and Great Britain in the 1980s.
