No regrets for Wakefield’s Tautai

New Wakefield signing Tualima Tautai has insisted that he has no regrets about joining the Wildcats, despite interest from neighbours Castleford.

Tautai, 25, opted for a move to the Rapid Solicitor’s Stadium and made his debut in Saturday’s defeat to the Tigers.

The Samoan international had agreed to sign for Castleford but the move was scrapped when then-Tigers coach Ian Milward was sacked.

He said: “A couple of things fell through and they got a new coach.

“But I am very happy at Wakefield and happy to have the opportunity to play here.

“All I had to do was put pen to paper at Castleford. When they had the change of coach, we were kind of playing the waiting game, but Wakefield approached me straight away.

“I kind of knew my career in the NRL was pretty much up. When Wakefield found out that

the Castleford deal had fallen through, they approached me and I was pretty pleased with what the boys said, Justin Poore and Tim Smith. They gave it a pretty good rap.”

Wakefield face Super League leaders Wigan at the weekend.
