No Joy for Oldham

Oldham’s 2013 Player of the Year, Phil Joy, is struggling to be fit for the start of the new Championship 1 season.

Joy, 22, is battling a groin injury, which looks set to keep the prop out of action for several weeks.

Head coach Scott Naylor had this to say:

“The physio will be monitoring his progress week by week and we’ll take it from there.

“Four or five weeks into the rehab we should have a better idea of where he stands in terms of playing.

“Surgery can’t be ruled out, but it will be a last resort and it will be considered only if the rehab doesn’t work.

“We have every reason to believe, however, that it will do the trick.”
