No confidence issues for Catalans, says McNamara

Catalans boss Steve McNamara says there are no confidence issues in camp as they prepare to face Leigh this weekend.

The Dragons were thumped at Warrington on Saturday, having scraped past Championship side London in their opening game of The Qualifiers.

That Broncos win was only the second victory McNamara has tasted since taking over at the Stade Gilbert Brutus in June – a narrow win against Leigh the other.

He said: “I think going into the middle 8s we played very well against Wigan, Castleford and St Helens without getting the results.

“We thought we were close and against Warrington we were a million miles off.

“I don’t think confidence is an issue. The players know within the changing room that if they play well, we can get results and compete with the top teams.

“I think the competition is anybodies.”

The Dragons conceded nine tries as they lost 52-24 to Warrington, who have now won two from two.

Points difference currently sees the Frenchman occupy fifth place in The Qualifiers table.
