No break for Whitehead

In-form Catalan back-rower Elliott Whitehead will be out with several weeks with an ankle injury.

Whitehead, 24, has scored nine tries in nine Super League appearances this season, and there had been initial fears that he had suffered a fracture during the Challenge Cup defeat to his former club Bradford at the weekend.

Dragons head coach Laurent Frayssinous said: “It’s a big loss for us, Elliott has been outstanding this season so far.

“But I am pleased for Elliott that it is not a fracture, as it was feared after the game.

“The medical staff will work closely with him now to make sure he rehabilitates correctly.”

Whitehead made more than 100 appearances for the Bulls before making the switch to Perpignan midway through last season.
