No better start, says Hudson

Castleford captain Ryan Hudson believes there is no better way to start the season than by facing local rivals Wakefield at the Millennium Magic Weekend.

Ryan spoke following the announcement by the Rugby Football League that the 2011 Engage Super League season will kick off with derby matches as all fourteen teams play under the one roof at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

Ryan explained: “There’s no better start to the season, not just for Cas fans but for Rugby League in general.

“I’m looking forward to the game. I’ve experienced Castleford v Wakefield derbies playing for both sides and they are always a great occasion.

“It is going to be another massive derby and the boys are looking forward to seeing all the fans down there and to getting the season off to a win.”

The Tigers will face local rivals Wakefield Trinity Wildcats in the third of four matches scheduled for Saturday 12th February, kick off 5pm.

Of the Millennium Magic Weekend concept itself and its move to the opening of the season, Ryan said:

“I’m for the Magic Weekend; you have to look at the bigger picture. It’s good for the game on the national front.

“It’s a great stadium and city down there. It is going to be an amazing event.

“The best thing this year, given it will be in February is that we’ll be starting the season under the roof.

“It should be warmer with a firmer pitch and that will make for better Rugby to watch for the fans.”
