Nightingale hopes for Dragons improvement

Jason Nightingale says St George are more than capable of bouncing back from last week’s derby defeat to Cronulla.

The Dragons were kept scoreless by a rock solid Sharks defence but Nightingale says the squad will not be fazed.

“I think we can pick ourselves back up, fix what we did wrong tonight and going forward I’m confident we can improve,” said Nightingale.

“I think we did alright, we just lacked a bit of timing and could have made more of some opportunities.

“We definitely started well and our heads were on for most of the game and I guess that just shows a few areas where we should’ve executed and we didn’t.

“There was some doubt there [on the try] but I thought I would get the benefit of it, but that’s just the way things go every now and then.”

The Dragons will move their focus to Friday’s visit of Newcastle, who take on the Dragons at WIN Jubilee Oval.

“It’s going to be good to get back to Kogarah and play the Knights,” said Nightingale.

“Obviously we know each other’s game, there will probably be a similar build up to Round One and hopefully we can get a similar result.”
