Nick Fozzard has been forced to retire after suffering a shoulder injury.

Fozzard has been playing for Dewsbury, and has torn his rotator cuff in his shoulder forcing him to hang up his boots early.

A Challenge Cup and World Club Challenge winner, Fozzard made his name in St Helens after spells with Leeds, Huddersfield, Warrington, Hull KR and a second chance at St Helens.

Dewsbury coach Warren Jowitt said: “I am gutted that we have lost a player of this calibre.

“He would not have been back for nine months and he is devastated that his career has ended.”
