Newcastle sign Salford prop Adam Lawton

Newcastle have signed prop Adam Lawton from Salford for the 2020 season.

The 26-year-old joined the Red Devils ahead of last season from Widnes-based amateur side West Bank Bears.

He found chances limited at the AJ Bell Stadium, making just four appearances.

Thunder coach Simon Finnigan said: “I’m pleased with the addition of Adam to our squad, he brings Super League experience and will add to the strike we already have on our edges.”

Lawton added: “I spoke to Denis [Betts, director of rugby] and Finny [Simon Finnigan] during the year and I’m happy with the move now that it has all happened.

“I’ve worked with Denis before and I like him as a coach, so it is good to link back up with him and it’s a new fresh challenge here.”
