Newcastle is a club on the rise, says Bob Beswick

Newcastle hooker Bob Beswick says he has been impressed by the fresh structure of his new club.

The 35-year-old joined Thunder for the 2020 campaign from Toronto Wolfpack, and has made four appearances for the North East club so far.

Beswick, who has earned 26 caps for Ireland, believes Newcastle are on the path to achieving great success in rugby league.

He said: “For me, it is great to be a part of something new.

“It is a club that has got a lot of great things in place. The club pride themselves on youth development and have quite a few lads in the first-team who have come through the academy here.

“We’ve got links to universities as well in the local area so I’m hoping to be a part of something that grows in to being something bigger.

“It certainly is a club on the rise. Obviously my priority is concentrating on the field but a winning team gets more fans and we are going to try and do that at Newcastle this year.”
