New deal for Blair

Newcastle Thunder have handed a new one-year deal to winger Ali Blair.

Blair, 27, scored 13 tries last season and will enter his fourth season with the club in 2018.

Coach Jason Payne told the club’s officlal website: “I’m delighted Ali has re-signed with us, he had a great year last year scoring plenty of tries along the way.

“It’s great that another local player has agreed to stay and hopefully having many of the same faces around will bring some continuity, especially with the numbers of new players that have been brought in.

“I’m sure Ali will have a big year and I’m looking forward to seeing him pick up where he left off.”

Meanwhile, youngsters Scott Derrick and Jake Woods have been awarded contracts for the forthcoming League One season.
