Netherlands RL players to participate in elite programme

Seventeen of the best rugby league players in the Netherlands are to be offered a place on a new initiative called the Elite Netherlands Rugby League Programme (ENRLP).

This follows the establishment of a development centre, designed to hone the players’ skills, mental abilities, physical fitness and game understanding.

This will hopefully make the players increase their chances of playing at a higher level.

The programme will also run in segments, allowing newcomers to access the programme once each new stage begins.

“There is huge potential in the Netherlands for rugby league and we believe this programme will establish an environment to help fulfil it while also creating a pathway for the players,” NRLB head coach Kane Krlic said.

“The ENRLP will provide the backbone of the national team with the standards the coaching staff have put in place. We understand it is a long term process but we feel this is the best philosophy to develop and accelerate the squad.”
